The work depicts an attempt to put into words the fear of losing a memory. It is not really a question of forgetting, but rather of how memory-based observation and the relationship with the object of memory affect the reliability of the memory image. By their very nature, memories are formed based on observations related to reality, and on the other hand, based on human uncertainty and the randomness of events. The artist's aim is to examine the meanings associated with the concept of experience through aesthetic experience, making visible social realities that are difficult to put into words. Although distancing oneself as a shadow emphasizes the conceptual idea of the work, the goal is to achieve as direct a relationship with reality as possible. There is a lot of symbolism associated with everyday activities, highlighting the irreplaceable importance of memories in human life.

Simo Ripatti is an artist who graduated from Uniarts Helsinki's Academy of Fine Arts in 2011. His aim is to draw attention to the significance of space, artwork, perception, and its temporality as builders of experience. His expression is stripped down, quiet, and sparse. The impact of the works is often based on subtlety and, to some extent, the element of surprise.
